Father of three, traveller and maker. I travelled around the world with my family for 22 months, and I am always building tools of my own.

Born in Alblasserdam. Married, father of three. I like working best at companies that make things: metal, machines, installations. Outside work I build my own tools too, from a CNC machine to an AI server. And I would rather read figures than opinions.
OUTSIDE WORK
What I do in my work, I do at home too: think it up myself, build it myself, and keep adjusting until it works.
BUILT MYSELF
At home I built my own CNC milling machine, starting from the first weld. I welded the frame myself from heavy steel sections. Then I had it machined flat on a boring mill, so the guideways would run true.
I also wired and fitted out the control cabinet myself. After that it milled aluminium parts and engraved wood. From drawing to chips: everything in my own hands.
DRONES
I fly FPV: with video goggles on you see live what the drone sees, as if you were flying yourself. I build most of my drones myself, from frame and motors to soldering the flight controller.
I hold the EU drone certificate A1/A3 and I am working on a design of my own: a mother ship that carries small gliders.

SHOOTING
I shoot at the Wilhelm Tell shooting club in Alblasserdam. The club has been around since 1925. Shooting takes calm, breathing and precision: a good counterweight to a day behind a screen.

THE WORLD TRIP
In October 2024 my wife and I set off with our three children. The house had already been sold, and there was no fixed plan. It became 22 months: a year in Asia, four and a half months in Australia and a few months in Europe.
In Australia we drove around the continent in a pickup with a roof tent: from Melbourne across the Nullarbor to Perth, straight through the outback to Uluru and along the east coast to Sydney. The children learned from life itself, and we learned from them. What I took away: with fewer things and better systems you get further.
